When a tooth is injured or becomes decayed, the nerve dies, and if this is not removed the tooth gets infected and has to be extracted. Special endodontic treatment is needed to save the tooth and remedy the injured or diseased nerve.
Root canal treatment is a virtually painless procedure that stabilizes the tooth and provides a solid base for further required treatment. It can usually be completed in one appointment. We recommend a post and crown after the root canal treatment to protect the tooth from further damage, but teeth may also be successfully restored with a composite build-up.
